Mesquite 2002
The weather severely limited the turnout at Mesquite this year. Five airplanes flew in on Friday to beat the storm front that was moving in from the northwest, but Saturday brought rain throughout the western part of the US. Those of us who arrived on Friday thought we might be the only attendees, but on Saturday, a few more made it in through the weather.

Sunday brought clearing skies, calm winds and warmer
temperatures. In total, only 9 airplanes made it, but five of those made
it a true Race event.

Paul Tackabury is optimistic that the weather will clear

Shirl Dickey briefs the racers while Char Spencer gets ready to

The racers taxi out for takeoff under clearing skies

Klaus Savier, Paul Tackabury, Gary Spencer, Jorgen Skovbjerg, &

Paul Takabury at 219.17 mph in the Superstock class
